The Science:

Whey protein leads to greater lean mass gains than soy protein

Study: Comparison of the effect of soya protein and whey protein on body composition: a meta‑analysis of randomised clinical trials.

British Journal of Nutrition (2018)

https://short-link.me/1aoqX

This meta-analysis (7 RCT’s; 420 participants) found that whey protein supplementation resulted in a significant increase in lean body mass (mean difference ≈ 0.91 kg) compared to controls, while soy protein showed no such effect. The results highlight whey’s superior anabolic impact when combined with resistance training – supporting Per4M’s formulation.

Whey protein has the highest digestibility and amino acid score of all proteins

Study: The Impact of Protein Quality on Resistance Training Outcomes: PDCAAS and DIAAS comparisons.

Nutrition & Metabolism (2016)

https://short-link.me/16069

This review shows that whey protein (both isolate and concentrate) achieves a PDCAAS of 1.00 and a DIAAS up to 1.09, ranking it at the top of protein quality scales. It emphasises whey’s complete essential amino acid profile, superior digestibility, and higher leucine content – essential factors for maximising muscle protein synthesis and reaching protein targets efficiently.
